The till‐covered clay and silt deposits at Mertuanoja, Pohjanmaa (Ostrobothnia), western Finland, have been investigated in great detail. The Eemian interglacial environment is reconstructed here on the basis of pollen, diatom and dinoflagellate analyses.   Two distinct zones of ice-marginal formations occur in southern Finland, the well-known Salpausselkä end-moraines and the central Finland end-moraine (Figs. and ) that were deposited at the ice Salpausselkä zone, that runs across southern Finland, belongs to the end-moraine chain that can be traced all around Fennoscandia as well as through Russian Karelia and the Kola Jean Pierre Bergoeing, in Geomorphology and Volcanology of Costa Rica, The Eemian Interglacial Period.
