The till‐covered clay and silt deposits at Mertuanoja, Pohjanmaa (Ostrobothnia), western Finland, have been investigated in great detail. The Eemian interglacial environment is reconstructed here on the basis of pollen, diatom and dinoflagellate analyses. The pollen stratigraphy shows an interglacial vegetational succession reflecting stable climatic conditions typical of the Eemian Stage in However, there are a number of sites where Middle and Late Pleistocene organic and glacial sediments have been preserved, particularly in northern Finland and in the Pohjanmaa region, western Eriksson, B., T. Dating by the 14C- and OSL methods was carried out on the interglacial and interstadial sediments, respectively.   Two distinct zones of ice-marginal formations occur in southern Finland, the well-known Salpausselkä end-moraines and the central Finland end-moraine (Figs. and ) that were deposited at the ice Salpausselkä zone, that runs across southern Finland, belongs to the end-moraine chain that can be traced all around Fennoscandia as well as through Russian Karelia and the Kola Jean Pierre Bergoeing, in Geomorphology and Volcanology of Costa Rica, The Eemian Interglacial Period. The Eemian interglacial period (name taken from the Eem River in The Netherlands) was the penultimate warm period to which the land was subjected before the Holocene (current period). This period began , years ago and extended to , years :// Abstract. The variability of Actinocyclus kuetzingii (A.S.) Sim. in the Littorina deposits of the Vistula Lagoon and Lake Druzno were studied. During the time of the Littorina Lake Druzno was a part of the Vistula Lagoon. In the different parts of the Lagoon both the abundance of A. kuetzingii and the diameter of its valves change in a manner associated with phases of the Littorina :// The sediments contain abundant redeposited Holsteinian and Tertiary microfossils, and possibly represent a pre‐Weichselian interstadial not described from elsewhere in Finland. The pollen flora indicates a mixed primary arctic to subarctic succession that followed deglaciation, i.e. the beginning of an interglacial or interstadial ://
